I like science.
I don't remember most of what I read when it comes to science, but I enjoy reading it.
Most people approach science, like, "Science can explain everything!" Or, "What a joke! Science will never be able to explain "X" so just have faith."
But the truth is that science may or may not ever explain everything, but new things are being explained, and are being discovered every single day! It's exciting.
What I like to do is I like to read the scientific discoveries of the year (courtesy of Discover magazine), and then imagine that until last year we didn't know all these things for sure, and then I try to imagine what can be done with all these discoveries. Like, did you know that Magpies have a sense of self? Birds. That possess a self-image. They proved it with tests involving mirrors.
That's just one of a hundred crazy, awesome things that happened last year in the field of science.
And there's only going to be more and more, so long as we can afford it, and so long as there exist materials with which to run tests.
But it comforts me to know that as long as the human spirit remains alive and alert, no religious nonsense, or Water World-esque depravity will be able to stop us from making life better.
That all being said, I think the title Amoeba is a bit of a cop-out since a lot of the designs could be said to be of an amoeba sort of variety.
So, another way of seeing it could be one of those noisemakers they hand out at crappy family gatherings where you pull the two sides out and there's a loud bang and some stupid crap falls out (usually a lousy paper crown and a toy paratrooper or something).
